The Promises of Spring

Spring reminds us of the promise of new life, a fresh start, and a new found hope. In this season, God makes all things new. He restores the trees and makes their branches bear fruit, He draws up sweet fragrant flowers to bloom all around, and He calls forth the birds to sing joyful praise. It’s a time that He warms our Winter chills and invites us to begin again. Isaiah 43:19-20 reads, “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. The wild animals honor me, the jackals and the owls, because I provide water in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland, to give drink to my people, my chosen,”.
“The winter months challenged us with hard times, but Spring comes with an offer of a holy time.”
The winter months challenge us with hard times; but Spring comes with an offer of a holy time. A time to begin again, to be renewed and refreshed by the word of God. This is the time we should seek to sit at the feet of our Lord, to allow His word to warm our hearts and bring joy back to our longing souls. It’s a time to let the Holy Spirit till the soil of our hardened hearts and plant a new word that will spring forth to set our souls completely free.
All new seasons of life can come with paths unknown, stir worry in our hearts, and can cause immobilizing fear, but if we look around we can find beauty in that new season too. That path unknown just might turn out to be the path that leads us besides still waters, where He refreshes our souls. It just might be the path He guides us along for His name's sake, and even if it’s a path through the darkest valley, we can fear no evil for He promises to be with us. If the path sets us before our enemies, he’ll prepare a table for us so full that our cup will overflow. His rod and staff are there, along with His goodness and mercy, to comfort us for the rest of our lives.
Let’s not place our hope in the promise of a new season, but in thee promise that one day we shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever. With that outlook we can boldly face whatever the season has lying ahead.
Dear God, in this new season of Spring, let us cling to your promises of new life. Let us look for beauty in whatever season you have set before us. Whether, it is a season beside still waters or a season through the darkest valleys, let us look to you for guidance and reassurance that you’ll be with us to comfort us. In Jesus name, Amen.
