The Road Not Taken

“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate, and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it” (Matthew 7:13-14).
Life isn’t a treadmill stroll going nowhere. As we walk, we face many roads. Some are smooth and clean; some are rocky or jagged. Others leave us with obstacles, eventually leading us to paths of choice. Before you take a step, have you considered where you are going? What is your destination, and where lies your purpose there? Have your feet been covered in faith? Are the soles of your feet landing on a strong foundation? Are you ready to begin your journey at all?
In every breath we take, we are propelled into a world of decisions full of dreams, expectations, disappointments, and victories. These are all wrapped in God’s will; without our permission. But, the path…. The tortuous path. The path that winds and bends. The path that ends without life at all. The path that makes no promises but is full of opportunity. Many parallels. Many forks to face. Which path to choose?
Courage sets its eyes on the road many choose not to take. Faith takes the step and plants its feet on God’s promises. The road not taken can be the one that leads to life or the one that leads to death. Seek the one that leads to life. When you stumble, rebalance in your faith. When you fall, reach for the hand of God, ready to give you the strength to stand as you reflect and refocus.
God’s word will guide your every stride on the narrow road, even if no one else is with you. Trust His navigation in your life and begin no journey without Him.
Be encouraged.
