Bloom Where You Are Planted

Spring reminds us of the promise of new life, a fresh start, and a new found hope. In this season, God makes all things new. He restores the trees and makes their branches bear fruit, and He draws up sweet fragrant flowers to bloom all around. It’s a time that He warms our Winter chills and invites us to begin again and bloom where we are planted.

It's a simple phrase, but it carries a powerful message. The idea is that no matter where we are in life, with God we have the ability to grow and thrive. I know all too well that the idea of beginning again can stir worry and fear in our hearts, but hold onto this beautiful promise that if we remain in Him we can bloom right where we are planted. We can begin new careers, renew relationships, and move to new cities.
Placing our trust back in God can feel overwhelming, but when we strive to live out Proverbs 3:5, we can surrender and allow Him to work. This not only sets us free, but to bloom and grow no matter where we are planted. We should trust and know that if we had to uproot our seeds from the past and place them into the hands of God, then they were potted in fruitful soil. We may find ourselves in challenging situations or in places where we think that we cannot grow or achieve anything. During these times, we must remember that God is faithful and has placed us where we are for a reason. Our present situation is only an opportunity for us to exercise our faith, learn, grow, and ask Him to guide us while we are there.
As we look to the Bible, we see examples of individuals who bloomed where they were planted. Joseph was sold into slavery and later imprisoned in Egypt, but he continued to trust God and used his abilities to interpret dreams, which ultimately led to him becoming a powerful ruler. Joshua is another perfect example, He goes from serving as Moses' assistant to becoming the next leader of the Israelites, leading them into the promised land. Let these examples be a reminder that we too can bloom wherever we are planted, by trusting God and embracing our circumstances.
So, how can we begin to bloom? John 15:5 reads, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” First, we must be in Him. By our belief in the finished work of Christ and being baptized, we have been brought or grafted into the vine. It is up to us to choose to remain in Him. Secondly, we must have faith and back it up with our works. Lastly, we must trust God through it all and continue seeking His guidance. Let us pray and ask God to show us His purpose along the way and bless us with the strength and wisdom to fulfill it.
I’m not sure where you are in life, but let God show himself faithful to you again. If you need some encouragement, just look at His track record. Time and time again He has proven himself to be faithful. So no matter where you are in life, my prayer for you is that you may allow yourself to bloom in this season too.
